COLLEGE PRODUCTION
A Sad Goodbye to “The Wiz”

Dorothy has gone home to Kansas, and her four friends are back to their normal
lives in Oz. The 2005 College Musical, 'The Wiz', is all over. A six month
journey for the students came to its peek during the performance week in June as
over 1500 people witnessed the magical show. Tears were shed as the cast and
crew of 150 said goodbye to the project that brought so many of them together.

A project like this could not be possible without the support from staff,
students and parents within the college community. The show was a huge
undertaking and it was great to witness so many people come together to assist
with many aspects of the show. From lighting to sound, sets to costumes, dancing
and singing, 'The Wiz' was a wonderful success and all those involved should be
proud.

Students finished their journey in late July with a Reunion. Most of the cast
and crew attended the night that included the showing of a documentary of all
the behind the scenes footage, sharing of photos and reading of fan mail (all
from our local primary schools). After dinner, the night concluded with a
screening of the Saturday night performance of the show.

'The Wiz' will go down in Monican history. It saw the rebirth of musicals to the
college. It brought together students from all six year levels and created an
atmosphere, around the school, like no other. As for next year, who knows?
However one thing is for sure, 'The Wiz' will be remembered for many years to
come.
