House Events
St. Monica's College has a number of House based events. Each
student in the College is allocated to a House on their arrival at the College.
Each year the school holds the following events:
- Athletics Carnival
- Swimming Carnival
- Cross-country Carnival
There is also a House lunchtime competition, which involves
sporting and recreational activities which run in Terms 2, 3 & 4. Activities
include:
- Soccer
- Basketball
- Table Tennis
- Volleyball
- Chess
Chess has been a regular part of House activities at St Monica’s College at the Dalton Road Campus and in 2008 was introduced to the Davisson Street Campus. Each Campus has a play off to determine the champion for that campus and their name is placed on the Chess shield. Based on these performances students are then chosen to represent the College at the annual Victorian Chess Championships. Chess is made prominent at the college with an oversized outdoor chess board and pieces located on both campuses. Games held outdoors always attract much attention and enhance the standing of this ancient game of skill and strategy.
