Sport is a most important aspect of the College' s life. The
sporting programme at the College offers all students the chance to participate
in a wide variety of sports. The programme not only caters for the elite but
leads all students forward in further developing their skills . Our students are
trained and well prepared for any competition that they enter.
The structure of sport at the College has changed over the
last two years, it now has a Director of Sport, who leads a panel of experienced
coaches.
Internally the College sporting programme is based around a
strong House competition. This includes the College's major carnivals of
Athletics, Swimming and Cross-country. There is a lunch time sport competition
which changes each term, allowing students the opportunity for a structured
sports programme during their lunch break.
The College's extra curricular programme includes the
following: Athletics, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Cross-country, Futsal, Golf,
Football, Netball, Tennis, Softball, Cricket, and Volleyball.

The competitions for these sports are linked to the following
associations:
SACCSS involves ten Catholic Colleges, that compete in the

This association emphasises the sports persons' good code of
conduct, the students compete in good competitions in the appropriate way. The
College always performs to a high standard with uniform and behaviour at an
exceptional standard.
The Catholic All Schools Association offers our students the
next level of competition and exposes them to the State level of competition.
The College is a reigning State champion in Soccer at two age groups. This year
the College will compete at the state level in the following sports: Swimming,
Athletics, Golf, Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Cross-Country and Volleyball.
Football at the College comes under the VFDF programme,
sponsored by smoke free and TAC/HeraldSun. The College conducts its own Football
Development Squad.
Futsal is one sport of the College at which we excel at a
national level. We can be called a College of excellence in Victoria for the
sport of indoor soccer. In 2000 St Monica's College had eleven National
representatives, who toured Europe and Brazil. This links in with our extremely
high level of Soccer prowess, where our students benefit from the skills
required for indoor being modified to outdoor.
Sport within the College is in a very strong position, but
the vision is there to see it improve. New facilities include new ovals, Soccer
pitch and multi-sports fields. With this type of backing the College can only
move forward. We welcome your children to our sporting programme.
