South Australian Challenge 2011 Senior Boys Winners

SACCSS Senior Girls Football Champions 2011

FOOTBALL EXCELLENCE PROGRAMME

The tenth year of the Football Excellence programme kicked off in February 2012. Trials held during 2011 had selected the 70 Years 8-10 students to take part. The new Year Seven squads commenced in early March.

Once again the early morning training sessions commenced with a 7.00am start for aspiring Year 7 and 8 football stars. The enthusiasm and dedication of these students and their families is inspiring. The programme was a busy one throughout the year. Female and male teams have competed in our regular SACCSS inter school competition, the Premier League and Futsal tournament as well as the Football Federation Victoria Futsal competition. The College Football teams are made up from participants in the programme.

Touring Programme

The South Australia Challenge continues this year. August saw the Senior Girls and Boys squads heading for Adelaide to compete against the South Australian Champions with a win for the girl’s squad.

The Junior Squads head west in November for their tilt at the South.

Staffing

The programme at present is staffed by four of the teaching staff at St Monica’s College; all are qualified football and five a side football coaches. Luca Finanzio, Lucas Rabenda, Mark Torcaso and David Black have all been coaching the large number of football squads at the College over many years. All have coached State Championship teams, both outdoor and five a side. We are also pleased to have Mr Don Ross and Mr Mick Hoar as members of our coaching staff. Don is a qualified Level Two football coach and has many years of competitive football behind him. Mick has coached for 30 plus years and has coached many state teams over the years. We have been joined this year by two specialist coaches, Gianfranco Impellizzeri an AFC B Licence holder and Goalkeeper coach Erin Herd.

The College is always proud to acknowledge the achievements of members of the programme.
