INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
St Monica's College takes seriously the need for all students
to have access to contemporary computing facilities. Here is a list of the
facilities currently (2008) available and soon to be added to:
Davisson Street Campus
- 3 computer laboratories
- Computer drop in centre called ‘The Beehive’ available daily for all
students
- 4 class sets of Notebook computers: these are portable and wireless
Dalton Road Campus
- 2 computer laboratories
- 5 class sets of Notebook computers: these are portable and wireless
Added to this all teaching staff have been provided with a
Notebook computer for use in integrating Information Communication Technologies
in the curriculum.
All Science laboratories and both College libraries also
provide access to computers as well as programs in Literacy and Numeracy in
their own facilities. The new Horizons program also has its own set of
computers.
All computers have access to broadband internet which is
filtered for student safety on line. Progressively, many class rooms are also
having data projectors so staff can provide delivery of digital video for
curriculum use.
All of this is complemented by a broad range of curriculum
options starting in Year 9 with Multimedia and into the VCE years.
