 PERFORMING ARTS

Teachers nurture lifelong learning by encouraging independence and self-motivation.

The Performing Arts Faculty offers the subjects of Dance, Drama and Music. Drama and Music are offered from Years Seven to Twelve. The emphasis is very much on creating and making one’s own pieces and exploring and responding to the works of others. Students are given many opportunities to present and perform their work in front of an audience through ensemble evenings, showcases, concerts and presentation evenings.  They are provided with excellent facilities and spaces to create and present their pieces.

In addition, members of the Performing Arts Faculty contribute much to the co-curricular activities offered by the College. These include, Music Tuition; a wide range is offered, from piano to voice to saxophone and being a member of the many bands and ensembles, College Production; in recent years this has taken the form of a musical, in 2011 the College is presenting Singin’ in the Rain, and MADD Night, a celebration of Music, Art, Dance and Drama. Students also have the opportunity to take part in Festivals and competitions such as the Melbourne Bands Festival.
