The Embrace

The Embrace is a distinctive wood sculpture situated at the external entrance to The Gateway Room and the Year 9 building. The Embrace was created by Brad West from the Western District area of Victoria. It is appropriate that the work was caved in the Western District where many Good Samaritan Sisters’ ministries have occurred.

The Embrace was carved from the trunk of an ancient gum tree that was removed from The Wetlands area of the Dalton Road Campus at the time of The Wetland’s blessing and opening in 2011. Two large rocks removed from the vicinity of The Wetlands are an artistic feature in the centre of the work.

Outspread arms of The Embrace warmly welcome all comers to The Gateway Room and the Year 9 building.
