Australian Rules Football Academy

The College’s Australian Rules Football Academy program provides development and competition opportunities for both boys and girls across all year levels. For boys, both Senior football and Premier League opportunities in the Sports Association of Catholic Co-educational Secondary Schools (SACCSS) exist across all terms. In 2018, a Senior Girls competition was introduced, with junior and intermediate girls competing in a Gala day tournament each year.

The program is headed up by experienced professional Coach, Brett Potter, utilises qualified AFL Coaches and High Performance staff and has created local connections for representative pathways for talented student athletes. The Academy also runs a Talent Identification and Development Program which provides talented junior boys and girls additional technical coaching opportunities and strength and conditioning programs.

The Academy also coordinates annual interstate playing tours and performance camps to assist in the development of its students, internal AFL X competitions for boys and girls in addition to invitational tournaments with the College’s feeder school network.

“The AFL Academy has produced multiple junior Northern Knights representatives and continues to deliver high quality training and development opportunities. 2019 saw the College win its first ever Senior Girls AFL Title and record grand final and semi-final appearances across all other teams”
