Update 12, 2021 on SMC Response to Coronavirus (COVID – 19)
Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Premier Daniel Andrews has announced the continuation of the sixth lockdown for Victoria until 11.59 p.m. on Thursday, 19 August 2021. Stage 4 restrictions remain in place until this time.
Please note that all lessons will continue to be conducted online except for Home Room; Years 7 – 10 Pastoral lessons; Year 8 Growth & Relationship classes; and Year 12 Religious Education.
However, a Staff Teaching and Learning Professional Learning Day will be conducted on Wednesday, 18 August so no online classes will occur that day. It can be a screen-free day. This may help students catch up on work.
The Monican Minders program for Years 7 to 12 remains. Your child will be contacted online by a Minder staff member to check on his/her wellbeing and to be the contact person between College and Home.
If a school counsellor’s advice and help is required, there will be a counsellor on site every day. Contact that person (9409 8800) and help will be forthcoming.
Our Finance Office is also open for enquiries or calls.
Supervision will be provided each day for any students who are vulnerable or have special needs that can only be accommodated onsite, and for the children of essential workers. Please book a place for your child through https://www.stmonicas-epping.com/supervision
Parent Teacher Conferences will now be split between the year levels. The Years 11 and 12 Parent Teacher Conference night will be held on Wednesday, 1 September. Logistics will be emailed home as soon as possible.
The Years 7 – 10 Parent Teacher Conference night will be held in early Term 4 on a date to be advised.
Parents, next week I shall record a message for you to view on the current situation. You may be interested to watch me, and we shall inform you of the day and time from which it will be accessible. Should you have any questions or matters you would like me to address, please send them to me on firstname.lastname@example.org and I shall address them.
Do not hesitate to contact the College on 9409 8800 if you need to communicate with the College. This remains a most difficult time for our College community. We pray and persevere.
Shalom – anywhere you go.
Brian Hanley OAM
