Update 5, 2021 on SMC Response to Coronavirus (COVID – 19) and Lockdown

Parents, Guardians and Carers,

Further announcements were made by Government authorities in relation to lockdowns in Victoria.

It was stated that lockdown restrictions in place would continue for another seven days until 10 June.  However, students in Years 11 and 12, or their last year of VCAL, or those studying a Unit 3 /4 VCE or VCAL subject, or Year 10 students doing VCE examinations will return as scheduled on Friday 4 June.

Other year levels must remain in remote learning until Thursday, 10 June.

Our College has planned out a strategy for examinations and the Assistant Principal (Teaching and Learning), Ms Michelle Keele will send to all families a separate update with all the required information about examinations tomorrow.  I require that parents and students read it very carefully.

Camps and excursions have been cancelled due to lockdown restrictions.  Other cancellations will be considered if necessary to abide by Government regulations.  You will be notified.

Please be assured that senior classes will be taught face-to-face and that examinations at Year 11 level will be held, commencing Friday 4 June.  This includes for Year 10 students studying Unit 1.

Remote learning and teaching will continue into next week at junior year levels.

Monican students and families, this is a very difficult time for us and the outside community.  As far as our care for our students is concerned, the College has staff available if help or support is required.  Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Who knows what the future holds for Victorians in coming weeks, but we can only hope, pray, plan and organise ourselves appropriately to get us through this tough time.

God bless all Monicans – Shalom, Anywhere You Go.

Brian Hanley
