Update on SMC Response to Coronavirus (COVID – 19)

Term 1 concludes for all students of St Monica’s College, Epping as from Tuesday, 24 March 2020. Students do not attend school as from tomorrow for any reason; it will be out of bounds for them. I ask that parents observe this closure also, using the telephone or email as the alternative.

The College will remain open for students to clear their locker until 5.30 p.m. this evening. Students at school today should take home resources (especially their laptop computer) at the end of the day.

No confirmed case of Coronavirus associated with St Monica’s College has been reported.

Please consult our College website in regards to mental health support as this could be of assistance to students and families.

Please note that online learning resources will be available as from Tuesday, 14 April if the school closure still applies at this date. This is unknown at this time. Students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 will be able to access programs in all their core subject areas. Work for Units 1 and 3 of VCE and VCAL and VET will be available for students to follow their regular courses of study.

The Assistant Principal (Learning and Curriculum) will email more detailed instructions in the near future. The responsibility to access this work falls directly upon the students. Parents need to ensure that students study at home if that is what is required in the circumstances.

God, as more people get sick, healthcare workers and first responders
Are working longer hours with fewer supplies
And with more risk of contracting the virus themselves.
Bring your protection upon them as they work with patients.
Multiply their supplies so they have protective items
Needed to stay safe on the job.
