Update on SMC Response to Coronavirus (COVID – 19)

Parents and Friends,

The education and wellbeing of your children is the main priority of our College and I write to you this day to provide you with a further update.  I shall be writing more extensively to you next week when schools have clear instructions from the Government about secondary school education matters.

Prior to the end of first term, we geared up ready to conduct remote learning should this be necessary.  This would begin on Wednesday, 15 April.  Please note that Tuesday, 14 April is a student-free day in Victoria.

The Deputy Principals and I have been meeting to ensure our College is organized in all ways for whatever may eventuate.  This includes caring for students, staff and parents.  I shall continue emailing staff and students just as I am emailing parents.

Please note that parents will receive emails from Ms Michelle Keele (Assistant Principal, Teaching and Curriculum) about online learning and from Mrs Alison Pisani (Finance and Business Manager) on finance and fees.

We ask parents not to panic about fees payments because arrangements are being put into place to ensure that no Monican will need to leave the College in these circumstances.

A deep clean of the entire site and all buildings will commence on 6 April by our professional cleaning contractors.

Please keep checking your emails from the College, because as soon as we have more information regarding Term 2, I shall be sending you more updates.

We will get through this horrible time, but never has our College motto of ‘Pray and Persevere’ been more significant.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I will fear no evil,

For you are with me;

Your rod and your staff,

They comfort me.’
