Update 21, 2021 on SMC Response to Coronavirus (COVID – 19)

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Carers,

Gradually, Victoria is being released from lockdowns and life as we knew it prior to this pandemic is returning to its rhythm and regularity.  Of course, the pandemic and the need for precautionary and sensible behaviour is not over.

The Government announced the easing of restrictions from 6.00 pm on Friday, 29 October, given the early achievement of the 80% vaccination target.

For St Monica’s College students this means that all year levels (from Year 7 to Year 11) will resume face-to-face learning onsite from Wednesday, 3 November 2021.  The College will retain its traditional Mid Term Break thus no classes will be held until 3 November.

School will start with Home Room daily with all classes operating according to their regular timetable.

On behalf of the College community, I wish all our Year 12 students (and Year 11 students studying a Unit 4) well as they commence their examination period on Wednesday, 27 October.  Classes in Years 10 and 11 continue until Friday, 12 November with their examination period beginning on Monday, 15 November until Thursday, 25 November.  The scheduled Report Writing/ Examination Correction Day will be held on Friday, 26 November.  Further details about Years 7 – 9 examinations and end-of-year transition activities will be published in later correspondence.

The College is preparing on many important and significant levels for an effective post pandemic response, ready for when school resumes in 2022.  In the meantime, let us finish 2021 with hope, determination and a true appreciation that there are still many Monican families suffering due to this Coronavirus in our community.  May God bless them.

Shalom – anywhere you go.
