The NFA will utilise the College’s state of the art, FIFA approved football pitch along with many other community and A League football facilities.

The NFA will be affiliated with an A Premier League Team where students and professional football players will participate in joint coaching activities and games.

Students will participate in international trips providing them with opportunities to observe the best professional football environments in the world, with the ultimate aim to secure a professional contract.

The Year 7 and 8 Program operates either afterschool or before school. These programs are often coached by Ex Monicans or External sessional coaches. The year 7 and 8 programs for both boys and girls are the start of a Footballing journey at SMC. 30 to 50 students in each year level are selected and trained all year to prepare for Premier league competitions and Futsal Tournaments. The program aligns itself with the practices that will best prepare the footballer for the elite level as well as catering for the fresh and new beginner. All coaches are well qualified and prepare the most suitable practices for the ages they teach.

Year 9 Football is the feeder into the NFA program, This is a program that prepares the student for a more advance preparation into the world of football. Both male and females are selected in the program and operate as two double lessons a week with a specific coach designated to each gender. Usually around 16 to 22 boys are selected and around 14 to 18 girls selected. There is a trial process that takes place and the entry into the program is based upon more specific technical abilities and game awareness.

The year 7, 8 and 9 programs are built to flow into Northern Football Academy. The progression from the youngest age up to the NFA and then into their senior years is one that requires a drive to want to succeed both academically as well as passionate about football. The programs hope to mould the whole person, their leadership, their attitude and their management between football and studies.
