The College Tennis Academy is coordinated by the highly respected High Performance Coach, Paul Vassallo, from Vassallo Tennis. Paul has been coaching tennis and running extensive programs in Epping, Mill Park, South Morang and Thomastown areas over the past 20 years. He holds a High Performance Coach qualification with Tennis Australia, is one of only a handful of “Platinum” Talent Development Coaches in Australia, was the 2018 Tennis Coaches Australia – Victoria, Club Coach of the Year and was Team Manager for Victorian 12’s Boys Team at National Championships 2012, 2013 and 2016. Vassallo Tennis has developed 8 National Title winners in singles and doubles over the past 8 years, multiple ITF Junior title winners and consistently has players competing in Junior Points Tournaments throughout the year.
The College utilises the nine artificial grass courts on its Dalton Road campus, with high performance coaching sessions held twice weekly before school hours. Academy members are also coached in speed and agility mechanics by the College’s High Performance staff and are advised on junior tournament entry play to create and improve Junior National rankings. The Academy has produced multiple junior national ranked players and by 2020 will have 40% of members holding a current national junior ranking. In addition, Tennis Academy students selected as part of the College’s elite Athlete Development Program are subject to additional individual technical coaching with Vassallo Tennis as a component of that program.
