Tennis Academy

The College Tennis Academy is coordinated by the highly respected High Performance Coach, Paul Vassallo, from Vassallo Tennis. Paul has been coaching tennis and running extensive programs in Epping, Mill Park, South Morang and Thomastown areas over the past 20 years. He holds a High Performance Coach qualification with Tennis Australia, is one of only a handful of “Platinum” Talent Development Coaches in Australia, was the 2018 Tennis Coaches Australia – Victoria, Club Coach of the Year and was Team Manager for Victorian 12’s Boys Team at National Championships 2012, 2013 and 2016. Paul is the Head Tennis Coach at Mill Park Tennis Club (Mill Park & South Morang locations), St Luke’s Thomastown Tennis Club, and also the Tennis Manager at Vida Epping.

Vassallo Tennis has developed 8 National Title winners in singles and doubles over the past 8 years, multiple ITF Junior title winners and consistently has players competing in Junior Points Tournaments throughout the year.

The Academy’s program has developed rapidly over the past three years, with in excess of 50% of members holding a current national junior ranking. The program caters for developmental playing strength through to elite junior playing talent and with up to 6 hours of coaching per week the program is quickly developing a reputation for excellence”

The Academy is broken into four playing groups, based on the student’s current playing ability.

  • Bronze Group (Junior Development Squad
  • Silver Group (Junior Development Squad)
  • Gold Group (Talent Identification and Development Squad)
  • Platinum Group (Elite 8 Squad).

The College utilises artificial grass courts on its Dalton Road campus, with high performance coaching sessions held twice weekly for all members before school hours. Additional strength and conditioning and squad hitting opportunities are afforded to the Gold and Platinum groups throughout the year.
